Firmware 3.5.1-FINAL for Original Prusa i3 MK3

UPDATE: Final version of 3.5.2. is out: https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/general-discussion-announcements-and-releases-f61/firmware-3-5-2-final-for-original-prusa-i3-mk3-t27856.html

Hi guys,
new firmware 3.5.1-FINAL is out! This is a final release recommended to all users 😎

What is new?

Summary:
- Button click fix
- M220 speed factor
- Z-levelling fix (MK3)
- Pause print -> stop print fix

Detailed description of changes:

Button click fix
The function for button press evaluation and debouncing was modified in previous firmware version to make the code more accessible for the future. However, this code improvement introduced a bug which could cause that some fullscreen messages which waited for the user to press the button were skipped. This has been fixed.

M220 speed factor
On multi-material printers, speed factor is currently set to 100 % before filament change by Slic3r PE. This ensures that filament change will proceed with defined speed and thus higher reliability.
There is now a possibility to save and restore speed factor on MK2.5 and MK3 printers using the following G-codes:
M220 Sxxx sets speed factor
M220 B sets backups current speed factor
M220 Sxxx B sets speed factor and backups current speed factor
M220 R restore saved speed factor
These M-codes are the same as on MK2 printers with Firmware 3.1.0 and allows Slic3r PE to backup speed factor set by the user (by rotating the knob on the printer) before filament change and then to restore is when filament change if finished. This will fix issues #1364 and #1208.

Z-levelling fix (MK3)
Z-levelling function introduced in previous Firmware 3.5.0 could repeatedly fail (X-axis staying at the top with a message "Some problem encountered, Z-leveling enforced ...") on MK3 printers under certain conditions. This has been fixed.

Pause print -> stop print fix
Stopping paused print could lead to behaviour when some movements were missing during new print or first layer calibration. This has been fixed.

Supported printers:
Original Prusa i3 MK3
Original Prusa i3 MK3 Multi Material 2.0
Original Prusa i3 MK2.5

No fix to :

https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/general-discussion-announcements-and-releases-f61/blips-in-temperature-not-seen-before-fireware-3-5--t26121.html

As so many people saw it and it was clearly something introduced in 3.5, I assume it would be fixed.. But its not mentioned in the release log.

Have Prusa even acknowledged its an issue?

I updated the firmwire on my MK3 and the final notice from the Slicr updater was that it is "unsuccessful". Yet, when I looked at the current firmwire in the printer i see that the update was indeed successful. How can it show new release firmwire in the printer if the update was unsuccessful?

Thanks. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas

Aman

I checked this thread and found myself to be having this very same problem, I cant print PC reliably anymore as a result of it, and it has cost me many grams of filament.
Please address this issue soon!

Ditto on the temperature dips. 10 C drops same as seen by others.

Me too my temp work around id to be sure I select a Temp that is high enough that a drop pf 10c wont clog the extruder but the temp changes can be seen in PLA that is glossy like Polyalchemy Elixir where how glossy it is can be adjusted with extrusion temperature.

I too am having this issue... when it happens however, I sometimes get a pre-heat error, and then the entire print is failed. I sat here wand watched it. Temp held at 228 for about 20 minutes, then rapidly dropped to 217, then back up to 220... it never rose back up to 228... I switched my thermistor and heat element on the off chance one was bad... Nope! They're both new!. same issue....

have any of you checked github?
have any of you logged an issue on git?

if not, why would you suspect it had been noticed and or fixed? The only things that get fixed are the things that get logged on git.
this is a user forum, no one is patrolling here for firmware issues. report the issues in the right place and they will get fixed.

if you want them to fix it, report it where it where the firmware engineers work

Not worth the hassle of signing up for another account for me. I personally downgraded to 3.3.1 as so far it's been the best firmware for me, I'll try again with the next release.

re 3.3.1, agreed. i tried 3.5 and downgraded. came back for 3.5.1 but the issues i saw appear to still be unresolved. but asking about things like this in a forum thread rather than checking git is useless.

Git btw is a great place to have a login. slic3r is there, prusa firmware, octopi, pretty much everything is there.

Maybe at some point I’ll sign up but really don’t feel like having another dormant account . I wasn’t asking about it as much as adding that I see it as well and quickly downgraded once I realized it was a firmware issue and not something with the printer. I’ve not been happy with any of the firmware since 3.3.1 as it all seems bloated and sluggish on my unit. I personally am glad people post it here as I really don’t follow issues on GitHub and I’m guessing I’m not alone.

Merry Christmas

I found an issue that happened in 3.5.0 also, not sure about before then though.

When the filament is changed during a print, it shoots out a small amount to make sure the color has changed (even if you are not changing color). After you say yes and remove the filament it put out, it puts out a little more and then instantly moves. This strand of filament is then pulled onto the print and lays across it unceremoniously, causing future havoc.

It would be great if it did not push out more filament on purpose after asking you if the color changed and you said yes.

I’ve noticed this as well. I think it’s worse because the print fan is running blowing the purged filament across the print. I don’t believe the print fan stayed on in the previous fw.

they explained this some time ago. what is supposed to happen is that the pile of filament stays put and the small extra amount it extrudes is supposed to allow that pile to stay put and not get dragged into the print. it is supposed to stretch and pull off the nozzle, not pull the pile of filament change into the print. in my experience, it works about 50/50 so i grab the whole thing as it extrudes that last extra bit and pull it off the plate so none of it ends up in the print. but i will confess that i have had it work perfectly also.
