Firmware 3.4.1-RC1 for Original Prusa i3 MK3
THE FINAL VERSION 3.4.1 is out: https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/general-discussion-announcements-and-releases-f61/firmware-3-4-1-final-for-original-prusa-i3-mk3-t24967.html
Hi guys,
new firmware 3.4.1 is out! Note we are currently in release candidate stage, this build is for experienced users 😎
What is new?
- Stealth mode fixed
- "The filament sensor response is poor, disable it?" temporarily disabled
- Bug fixes
Stealth mode fixed
This issue manifests itself as slow Z-axis movements. This was caused by a bug in storing custom values to EEPROM (M500 and M501 G-codes). These two G-codes were updated to avoid a similar issue in the future.
"The filament sensor response is poor, disable it?" temporarily disabled
This was a new feature introduced with filament sensor engine 2.0. Unfortunately, this feature seems to be too sensitive and unreliable so we disabled it for now and we are working on the improved version of it.
Bug fixes
- Filament runout detection bug #1154 fixed
- Stealth mode bug #1152 fixed
- Statistics during active print bug #1151 fixed
- OctoPrint "Printer reset detected" warning #1184 issue fixed
Supported printers:

Re: Firmware 3.4.1-RC1 for Original Prusa i3 MK3
how far is 3.4.1-RC1 from last version of 3.3 ? seems to me you have disabled new features of 3.4.0 and fixed what was broken from 3.3.x
what about allowing your valued customers to have an option: Allow Filament sensor always except when printing?
that would be filament sensor helping loading filament but not ruining the print because of it fails what it's supposed to do

It is easy to load without the sensor. My main reason for wanting the sensor is run out. When I run out of filament, I do not want to have to trash a print.

For me it’s easy to watch the print so that I don’t run off the filament.
FilmentSensor on MK3 is commercial advertisement that does not serve it’s purpose. I bet it sells good though, same like power cut detection. But wait, it’s 2018 and I didn’t have a power cut for 7 years now! Whoops

Well, it’s easy for you. For me it’s easy to watch the print sp that I don’t run off the filament
I have no problem with adding a choice. More choices can be better, and in this case it would be. 🙂
Re: Firmware 3.4.1-RC1 for Original Prusa i3 MK3
Yeah exactly, “adding” a choice. You would use that feature and it won’t ruin my prints 😁
Re: Firmware 3.4.1-RC1 for Original Prusa i3 MK3
Filament Sensor still need tweaking - On firmware ❗
I still have fake positives, as simple as Solid Red ABS, in the middle of the print. And sensor is new, no dust,
That can be ok if they change the way firmware react
Suggestion:
Instead of click to unload what about:
"Runout detected, please take action:
1. Unload filament
2. Skip & continue
3. Disable sensor & continue"
This makes much more sense instead of force us to unload and load again the same filament wasting time. This will not hurt anyone who have a sensor that work 100% of the times because you still need to click ok and thats the first option anyway 🙂 Such a simple design that should be present from start.

Hi guys,
thanks for the feedback. I will talk to our firmware dev about your suggestions 😉 We are currently working on the sensor firmware.
