Filament included with kit?
Which filament types are included with the kit and in what quantity?
Best Answer by With_Maltodextrin:
Just got a MK3S a few weeks ago. It came with 1kg of Galaxy Silver-labeled "Prusa" PLA filament on a nondescript clear spool. As bobstro notes, Filament PM is supposed to be the manufacturer, from before Prusament existed.
However - I bought some actual Galaxy Silver Prusament PLA (on a black hexagons spool) - and the two filaments are indistinguishable to my eyes, both on the spool, the way they print, and the prints themselves. My completely unsubstantiated hypothesis is that my included roll of filament is actually Prusament that's been put onto the generic spool. Further, the Prusa filament label still says +-0.05mm so it could be Prusament that was out of spec for +-0.02mm but was still usable (sort of like how we know they use the out of spec Prusament for their print farm on those large spools).
Or.... none of that stuff, and it's simple coincidence and my uncontrolled, ad-hoc visual comparison was just wrong. 🙂

Unless they've changed it, you get a 1Kg spool of the Plasty Mladic silver, not Prusament. Someone who has received theirs recently will need to confirm whether they still ship PM or if they've switched to Prusament.

Thank you @with_maltodextrin and @bobstro for quick answers. This information helps significantly as I plan my first purchase of a first printer!

So, just to throw my 2 cents in. I purchased my kit in late January of this year and received with the printer a roll of filament labeled "Prusa PLA Galaxy Silver". This is on a standard spool, not the Prusament Hex spool but there is no indication of origin for the filament.

RE: Filament included with kit?
Just finished my included Galaxy silver roll from the Mk3S kit and there is a PLA printed collar on the roll and the layer height is super small, it must have taken a while to print this! Such a well made part even has a printed tab to keep it from spinning on the roll.

I was able to get the same product from the Stateside Filament PM folks. A two kilo spool was very reasonable in price. However, it came on this huge honking very unwieldy spool. I had fun (NOT!) respooling it on two regular spools. It was marked 'from the Czech Republic', but did not use the Prusa branding. I was glad, however, to get more of that, as it works quite well.

@james-6
I just checked my spool and I have one too. Ill have a proper look when I finish the spool but yeah, from what I can see already it looks really good quality....
