Fan making strange noise

hi,

Just recently the fan that cools the hot end has started to make a strange noise.

It happens around the 30 minute mark for every print I do, it lasts for about 30 odd seconds and the goes.

It seems that at the 30 minute mark the fan increases in speed and makes a sort of rattling noise, then after about half a minute it slows down and goes back to being quiet.

I've checked and there are not any bolts loose, it all seems quite tight.

Should I be lubing something to stop the noise?, buy a new fan? anyone got any ideas as to what I should do?

I will say that it doesn't effect the prints at all, and filament is not over heating, its just this strange noise.

Thanks

RE: Fan making strange noise

Take take label partially off the fan hub. Put a couple of drops of oil in the bearings. Refit the label. Refit the fan

Use the printer and order a replacement fan for when the original fan fails again.

That's strange, I've never had a Noctua fan fail me yet on any of my Prusa's after thousands and thousands of hours of printing.

Are you sure you're not referring to the print cooling fan? If so refer to JoanTabb's advice above.

RE:

What's weird is not the noise but the fact that it appears exactly 30 minutes after the print starts and stops in 30 seconds.

Why should the hotend fan speed up suddenly and then slow down again ?.Supposedly, it should be spinning always at stop speed when the machine is printing.
