Typically, the Teflon tubes have been deformed, causing the filament to not run smoothly through the tubes.
It may also be because the Bondtech wheels clamping screws are too tightened so that the wheels are no longer parallel.

Are there any guides on replacing does tubes? Im going to take some of my printer apart for maintenance might as well check this to.

I believe the PRUSA Manual or knowledge base has even more specific instructions for your unit in the same guide format as well.

I repleaced my heatbreak.
I was having similar issues where my stepper motor was getting VERY VERY hot, and experienceing Jams, VERY consistently at certain spots in certain prints.

After replacing the Heatbreak, my extruder motor is running *MUCH* cooler, and no more jams.

What did you replace your heatbreak with? The same part, or something else? If the same part, why would it make a difference?

By the way, for those who have the heat problem, you could try blowing a simple external fan onto your extruder. If it's fast enough, maybe it would help.

which seems to not be in stock anywhere on the internets... so... good luck finding one.

Prusa has a "unique" heat break. A standard E3D V6 heat break would be an improvement.

Solved mine. Others haven't had so much luck. So replacing the heat break is not a "fix all" for weird extrusion/jamming problems. 🙁

Well, I went ahead and ordered it as cheap insurance in case I ever need one in the future. If not before, then when I upgrade to the megaVolcano, I'll swap it in then. 😎

I have this same problem.
Extruder motor getting really hot (to hot to touche)

PETG and NGEN print fine.
PLA fails every time after ~1-3 hours. I leave my enclosure open to help get some fresh air.

I have already gradually loosened the gears to the point that it just starts grinding, so tightened it a little bit again.
I have already tried it with latest updated slic3r and prusa controls.
I have already updated the MK3 firmware.
Alignment of gears or good.
Ambient temperature here is currently ~22 - 35C (summer time, but even around 22 it fails)

I think the heat of the extruded motor is going into the gears melting the PLA already before it enters the PFTE tube going towards the hot-end.
Specially with ColorFabb glow in the dark I saw clearly there was a molten blob clogging up the entry toward the hot end directly under the gears.

I read some people have much lower temperatures? Is already clear if a hot extruder motor is related to any mechanical (higher) load/resistance on the extruder motor, of if it gets this hot even without any load?

Any solution?

(I might try and clear the heat breaker some time, but I'm unsure how to do this proper. some NGEN (like the prusa orange) gets really hard when cooking for to long.

I think you should look for something in the filament path that makes the motor work harder.
It may be the teflon tube that is clamped so that the filament runs sluggishly.
The normal motor temperature of mine MK3 is about 45-48°C at an ambient temperature of 22°C.

Just to add some data to this thread my motor runs at 50-55C with an ambient temp of 28-30C. So far no issues. I Do have one of those microswiss heatbreaks on hand if needed though just in case.

I should help cool down the heat breaker. So I guess I will do both sometime :
- clean up / replace the PTFE tube.
- replace R2 extruder frame with the R3 version to prevent same problems again.

But this is if the problem really is around more resistance in the path towards the hot-end. I will post my findings here. I need to do a already long requested PLA + PLA Glow in the dark print (16hours+) but failed it already 3 times after ~2hours every time because of PLA getting jammed.

But I have been reading the comments on the new R3 parts, and there seem to be a few problems, and I see these are not solved yet so I will wait a bit before I this all. Will keep printing PETG only in the meantime as that prints totally fine, even with the heated motor.

I'm not sure why some people complaining again. But based on my experience I had no issues with the new R3 parts. All dimensions were perfectly fine. After the upgrade the printer did not loose any quality and actually prints even better/nicer (with the same default Slic3r settings).
Last 24 hours print (fillenium malcon) and some test prints which tend to fail with R2 are working perfectly fine now.

The only actual solution i found on my Cr10 was to buy a new and better stepper motor.

Hey, maybe thats what causing the underextrusion problems.
