Extruder clogs and removing hot end
I have been plagued with various clogs and it has finally reached a point where this machine is no longer usable (Mk3 kit)
It worked fine earlier with PLA prints and then it started to clog . The first time it clogged between the gear and top feeder hole and no amount of tugging will free it (The blob was solidly stuck). The filament sensor has stopped working and I just ended up drilling it to free it.
After that, few weeks later, I was getting partial clogs and each time cold pulls and needles to declog it and it will mostly work before clogging again.
Finally, now it has clogged right at the top of the extruder and I cannot get rid of it. I figured, I may have to remove the nozzle and see if I can pull it out from the other end which resulted in thermistor wire breaking off..
I have now ordered a bunch of parts (new nozzle, new thermistor, new filament sensor just to make use of the shipping) and stripped the extruder but I cant seem to pull the hotend .. IT seems solidly wedged..
Any suggestions on this? This thing will break knowing my luck and I just frustrated with this at this point. Given the amount of time I am seeing this clog, it would be nice to have a easier way to get to it instead.
I am hoping to somehow remove the hotend, remove clog, replace the nozzle and clean it, replace thermistor, replace filament sensor and get this thign back..

Hope this helps:
Re: Extruder clogs and removing hot end
Thanks! That is a useful video! I finally did manage to get it out. I have ordered new heaterblock (I couldnt get the thermister out of it)
but I am wondering if my heatbreak is clogged.
Does this image show a clog? Shouldnt the heatbreak be clean?
Re: Extruder clogs and removing hot end
yes the heatbreak should be clean...
also consider changing the PTFE liner in the cold end heatsink to heatbreak section, there is a how to...
but I can't find a Mk3 version, these might help!

https://manual.prusa3d.com/Guide/How+to+trim+PTFE+tube+-+Multi+Material/497
remember that the ptfe needs to be lightly chamfered on the bottom END, cut surface, lightly tapered on the bottom inside surface, and more heavily tapered on the top inside surface. and be installed correctly, and cut to the correct length...
there are diagrams on line, but I can't immediately put my hand on a link... I wonder if PJR is lurking?
Ah, I re stole a picture that I stole once before

Re: Extruder clogs and removing hot end
Thank you Joan. I have PTFE on the way. I will change it,. I am not sure how to clean the heatbreak though. Just heat and clean? or may be replace that too?
