Extruder Cable Sagging

Hello,

When I was assembling my MK3S+ kit, I accidentally cut the nylon support guide filament too short to support the extruder cable. This did not seem to be an issue at the time, but as I moved up to printing larger objects, the extruder cable would sag against the print. Does anyone have any suggestions for remedies?

Thanks

Buy some more nylon guide and fit it to remedy your initial mistake.

As a temporary fix you could use some rubber bands to connect the extruder cable with the upper printer frame to hold the cable up until you have time to fix the problem...

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

Thanks! I'll try the rubber bands thing and see if that works. I'll also look into more nylon guide.

Just order some 2.85mm nylon filament eg Gizmo Dorks Nylon Filament for 3D Printers 3mm (2.85mm) 200g, White https://a.co/4e1Z4Ss

Take the wire bundle apart and properly install the nylon. And then the most "fun" part of assembling a Prusa--putting the wire sleeve back on 🤬

+1

Let’s not forget fitting that sleeve & wire bundle back into the clamp on the brainbox, and getting the screws fastened again… 🙄

Yeah, the wire bundle… that gift that keeps on giving. However, check out this https://www.printables.com/model/37451 to solve at least one part of the equation. No more zip ties needed at the extruder end! This should be factory built-in. I use it on all my Mk3S
