Err: MINTEMP BED
Hi all,
I've been printing this week without issue but today I got an Err: MINTEMP BED error.
After a number of restarts it was still doing it. The only thing that fixed it was taking the power cable in and out.
The printer then said mintemp bed fixed.
It has been fine since.
What could be the cause? Room temperature was the same as usual. Is this a sign of something starting to fail on the printer?
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks
RE: Err: MINTEMP BED
Your bed thermistor might be going out or at least one of the wires connected to it. You can check by moving the wires around and looking at your LCD screen to see if the temperature fluctuates. It's an easy fix with a new thermistor, unfortunately they have been out of stock for a while now.
RE: Err: MINTEMP BED
Agreed. Most likely a malfunctioning thermistor. It’s a known issue that the cable breaks. And the replacement kits are out of stock at Prusa.
Your options are to buy the replacement kit from a third party (at a ‘premium’… but still affordable), or repair the cable.
i did the latter. The cable had broken right where it comes out of the cable clip attached to the heat bed. I carefully stripped it, soldered it back together and shrinkwrapped it. Has been working perfectly ever since.
Good luck!

Hi all.
Thanks for the replies.
Ok, all that stuff freaks me out to be honest, I'd rather just buy a new printer in case I screw something up 😆 .
The printer has been running fine for days. Last night I thought I'd turn it off to give it a bit of a rest. I should have known..... when I turned it back on it did the error again.
Disconnecting/reconnecting the power cable didn't fix it... so I just left it on.
After 10 mins the printer said it'd fixed the issue.
How? How smart is this printer that it can fix the issue which seems to be electrical.... unless it isn't and it's an issue with the firmware or something.
Thanks
RE: Err: MINTEMP BED
Hi,
how warm or cold is it, in the room where your printer is?
Below 15°C this error gets triggered:

It’s a $5 part and 1 hour of your time. Much cheaper than a new printer 🙂
Did you confirm your wires are fine? Move the bed back and forth and look at the temp to verify but a much better test is jiggling the wires.
It a common problem and why it’s a good idea to always have a spare thermistor around.
