Does kit come with all the features as the pre-assembled MK3S?

I want to buy an MK3S but I also want to save money, so I’m considering buying the kit. However, I’m unsure if the kit comes with all the features of the pre-assembled printer (such as the filament sensor). I just want some sort of confirmation that that is the case before I make a purchase.

The assembled printer and the kit have all the same features. As far as I know, they use exactly the same parts. I have a kit printer and it's certainly not missing anything.

The assembled and kit printer has the same parts and ends up having the same features. One difference is the discount program that will get you 10% discount on your next assembled printer if you pay full price for the first - this offer is not given for the kit.

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

I also heard that Prusa doesn't strictly follow their assembly manual for preassembled printers as there seem to be more efficient ways to assemble it than the one in the manual. I have built a MK3S for myself and we bought a preassembled printer at work and I didn't see much of a difference.

One difference might be that when you assemble yourself, you can thoroughly grease the linear bearings before assembly. I believe that in the past Prusa didn't apply grease in the bearing. With the preassembled one we bought at work it looked like they might have changed that, though as it looked like there was some grease on the rods.

So yes, you get all the functionality for a lower price if you feel like assembling it yourself. Might take you around a day, but you will learn a lot about how it works along the way.
