Can we get a timelapse feature in Slic3r?
I really like how octolapse can achieve timelapses but it's very hectic to setup and requires extra hardware (rasberry pi) etc.
It would be nice to have an integrated timelapse manager in Slic3r, where you choose the time for the extruder to move out of the way and the camera takes a snap.
Please consider this!!!

But without octoprint how will you connect to your camera? If you do have octoprint, why not just use the octolapse plugin which works great and is easy to setup.

Octolapse has a bunch of settings that allow a lot of customization. The problem is, ANY tool that lets you configure a time lapse would have the same settings, just perhaps with different names. So don’t think that eliminating the Pi would simplify software configuration.
And as mentioned previously, the camera needs to be triggered at run time. Since Slic3r doesn’t actually run the print, it can’t trigger the camera. Assuming you already have a webcam, this might be a reasonable feature request for Pronterface, which does run the print and could, in theory, trigger your webcam. I’ve never actually used Pronterface, but it would seem like a fair amount of new development to add this capability. New development made harder by needing to support multiple operating systems. Pronterface would also require your computer to stay tethered to the printer.
For an untethered solution, you still need to add some sort of camera connection (new hardware) to the printer so it could trigger the camera. I doubt there is a camera interface cheaper or easier to configure than the Raspberry Pi.

For me, the simplest method generating the best possible results, is to print the web cam mount part from thingiverse that lets you attach a camera to the plate so that it moves with the print. Since there was no attachment for my particular web cam I had to make one (just a cuboid with a bolt hole through it the size Prusa gave us extras of). Then you fire up the software for the web cam on the PC and record at low frame rate. Suddenly it matter not to try and synchronize the snapshots to the bed position because the camera is always with the bed.
Personally I record at max frame rate because then I have more options later for playback speed.
