Can the printer cause damage?
Is it risky to leave the printer running even at night without surveillance?

RE: Can the printer cause damage?
I do so from time to time, but I am confident enough that at worst I'll have a failed print (sometimes happens.) I have been doing this for years and have not yet had anything horrible happen.

RE: Can the printer cause damage?
There is risk to it. There is risk inherent in all of your electronic/gas powered devices. A smoke detector nearby is a good idea.
No one is staring at their printer for 2, 4, 8, or 24 hours straight.
I wouldn't waste time worrying about said risk.

Smoke detector does you no good if no one is around to hear it... but undoubtedly a good idea for overnight prints when you're asleep.
