Auto Bed Leveling
Hello,
i recently got an i3MK3S and for bed leveling i have a question of understanding.
Short history: I bought the device completely assembled at Conrad. The first prints were great. Then I updated the firmware and (stupidly) did a factory reset. Since then I don't have the same result as before.
Then I set the Z-Offset manually. But it seems that my printing bed is slightly crooked. In the middle the first layer is good, right and left the distance to the bed is too small. I then added a +offset to the right and left side in the printing bed settings. The result looked quite OK at first. But my object was printed higher on the left and right side than in the middle.
Now I have Octroprint running and use the plugin Prusa Leveling Guide. This shows the following values:
The plugin recommends to put the printing bed on springs and to set a good leveling above it. What I do not understand is the following:
I thought that the sensor automatically detects the unevenness of the printing bed (the distance is measured at 9 or 49 positions) and then compensates this unevenness by software. But this seems (at least for me) not to work.
Can someone give me a hint or explain what the measurement at the beginning of the print is good for?
Many thanks, Dierk
