Alcohol wipe and?
Hey, What's this in the kit? It loooks like an isopropyl alcohol wipe and a puncture needle?

Hi KB1,
the wipe is to clean fingerprints etc off the build plate. The wipe only lasts one session,
always clean the build plate when cool
Most folk invest in 99% IPA and paper towels, for future use.
dish wash detergent and water also work, but make sure to wash and rinse the build plate over the sink, and dry it well. keeping your fingers off the build plate.
occasional wiping with pure acetone can restore the cold build surface.
and it you are like me, the acupuncture needle never gets used to clear the nozzle, because I lose them before i need them!

welcome to the support forum,
Most of us are hobbyists, helping each other address issues with the Original Prusa family of printers.
often there can be multiple ways of addressing an issue,
my suggestion, is to read them ll,and try the ones you find easiest to understand, first!
there is a fairly steep learning curve at the beginning...
take your time, and try not to be too ambitious to begin with!

So far I've turned it on and self tested, it appears happy. The attached picture is the first layer test. Not sure what to draw from that, calibration seems to be less than noob friendly (more advanced than my knowledge at least). I tried printing the PRUSA logo but running before I can walk. Any advice would be appreciated.

Your nozzle is to high, when the test is printing use the "Live Z adjustment" to lower the nozzle. So far on my 2 printers and work 2 printers I was in the range of -600 to -850. You know you have it right when the filament sticks to the bed and when you touch it and apply little pressure to the filament it does not come off the bed. if you have good eyes filament should not be round or totally flat, it should have a little flat surface on bottom and on top. My eyes suck so I use the finger little pressure touch test 😀
PS. Do NOT just turn your live Z adjustment to -600, as you might be a lot lower number for your printer and dig into your bed. You might have to run the test a few times to get to your number. you can increase the numbers by 100 until you get sharp 90 degrees corner with the filament and then adjust with lover numbers.

on the first page, at the bottom, there is a V6.1 sample file for PLA, PETG, and ABS in a zip file.
select the appropriate one and give it a try,
if the filament looks like individual strands, then your extruder is too high, too small a negative live Z value
if the filament looks to have merged into a smooth sheet, you are just about right and
if the filament surface starts to ripple, your extruder is too low. too big a live Z value

Thanks again, I will have a rest and try again. Another thing I've noticed though is my printhead/extruder never returns to the top left. Is this normal?

the extruder usually stops at the rear left, just above model height!

Look at your End G-Code in your slicer, everything is controlled with the G-Code. You have Start G-Code, End G-Code and others, sometimes Cancel G-Code like in Octoprint you can tell your printer what to do after you cancel the job with Octoprint.
here is my end code in Prusa3D Slic3r (under Printer Settings Tap, then Custom G-Code:
G92 E0 ; prepare to retracgt
G1 E-4 F1800 ; retract 4mm
G4 ; wait
M221 S100
M104 S0 ; turn off temperature
M140 S0 ; turn off heatbed

I have mine lift 10mm and then returns home, Left and bed forward for easy removal of your printed item.
