Adhesion/1st Layer Issues

I have had my i3 MK3s for about two years now and until recently it has been working well.

Recently I updated the firmware to 3.11 and greased the axes following the steps outlined here:

Maintenance tips | Prusa Knowledge Base (prusa3d.com)

I began to have issues with prints failing as they would stop adhering to the bed at various stages of the print.

I have cleaned the bed with isopropyl alcohol many times as well as with soap and water.

I have ran the 1st layer calibration numerous times and seem to get inconsistent results, i.e. one run will be successful but the second will fail using the same settings.

I am using the Prusa filament that shipped with the printer for these tests but have tried others with similar results.

I have noticed that there seems to be an issue with filament not sticking to the center and left of the bed.

I have factory defaulted the printer and reran the Wizard without luck.

I am curious if it is possible the heatbed thermistor is failing and if there is a good way to test it.

Thank you

It's possible you need to refresh the bed surface.  DO NOT do this as routine, it is for cases where regular cleaning has failed and if overdone it will destroy the print surface.  Once or twice a year at most... or when you are about to discard the bed for a new one.

Try cleaning the bed with acetone.

Try cleaning with three drops of Dawn dish detergent and rinse which much water. Then use Magigoo adhesive on the sheet. I have had impressive results with this prep.

Ap0logies for the delay in my response and I appreciate the suggestions. I think I am getting closer to resolving this.

I have wiped the bed down with acetone and was able to get it to print Buddy without detaching from the bed , however there still seems to be some issue(s).

It seems the 1st layer came away from the bed near his front feet and the layers are pretty visible.

I can try cleaning the bed with dish soap as Jimbo70 suggested as well.

It looks like more thsn one problem.

Clean again with dishwashing soap - use plenty, and lots of HOT water.

Then show us a first layer calibration print.

After that we may need to look at belt tensions but one step at a time...

Diem,

I have cleaned the bed as you suggested and ran the first layer calibration.

It seems to be sticking/adhering the bed much better.

Let me know if you have further suggestions and or if the belt needs to be tightened.

Thanks,
