About to embark on a MK3S+ build and have some questions...

Howdy Prusa community!

I'm about to embark on my Prusa journey by building the MK3S+ kit.

I know the parts come as PETG, but I'm planning on putting the printer in an IKEA Lack enclosure. Will the parts hold up? I'm planning on printing PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and maybe PC. Should I use printed parts in ABS or other high heat resistant material?

Thanks,

Akash

Printing all the plastic parts with ABS or ASA won’t hurt of course, but I don’t think is necessary. My MK3S+ has been inside a Lack enclosure since day one (nearly two years ago).  I print mostly PLA, but also PETG, TPU, PC and lately I started with ASA. None of the PETg parts failed or sagged because of heat. In fact, even in summer printing PC or ASA, the temp. inside the enclosure never surpassed 43-44C, which should be safe for PETg.

A well sealed enclosure will reach higher temperatures but I don’t think that would be a problem either. The only exception is the fan shroud, which must be printed from ASA, ABS or, better still, PC. I believe that the fan shroud included in the kit by Prusa is ABS but, to be on the safe side, I printed and installed a PC blend shroud.

As artur5 I haven't seen any issues with Petg parts in several enclosures. However, after printing a fair bit of ASA lately I noticed the extruder part that holds the Pinda was sagging so I had to reprint it.
