3D Printer trick all owners of MK3 should know to save money

A few days ago I wanted to buy the MK3 E3D V6.1 Hotend assembled.
The price was €66,11

I looked for total price including shipment and canceled at payment.

Today I looked again, and now the hotend price was €79,99 ex vat.

That is more than 20% increase in price.

After spending time at customer support I suddenly thought to look at the website again with deleted cookies and a VPN connection.

The original price of €66,11 was back! So I bought the hotend.
After payment I look again at the page and laughed to see it was €79,99 again.

Why post it on the forum?
Well for starters I feel offended by this, and I think everyone has the right to know how their printer works and their only means of getting spare parts.
Also at customer support I'm barking up the wrong tree/branch because this is intentional functionality of the website.

I just checked, for me it costs 79,99 Euro. I can only see the page if I'm logged in.

Can you be sure that Prusa didn't raise the price for everyone and you just saw an old version from the cache?

Can you use a vpn to present as if you were a Czech user? And see if there is a difference

For me it shows $79,99 and if I switch to EUR currency (english language), it shows me 66,11 € .

I can see 79,99 EUR, sure only when I am logged in. So unfortunatelly, Czech people do not have it cheaper 😉

But 66,11 EUR it is without VAT. So if you can buy without VAT, then it is possible. VAT is 21% here. So finally, if you do not have to pay our VAT, you can get it including shipping costs cheaper than me 🙂

1.21 * 66.11 = 79.99 so I suspect OP was not seeing VAT when connecting. Not sure how "VAT detection" is tied to browser settings. I suppose the test is whether or not it's delivered for the lower price.

Not sure about terms and conditions, I can see only our local. But I suppose that for orders outside EU there is no need to pay VAT. So if you are identified correctly, you might get the price without VAT. Sure with possible risk of paying your local import taxes and VAT.

This isn't a trick, the shop clearly displays the price with VAT as 79.99 € or 66.11 € without VAT. Either you have to pay it or you don't depending on your location.

I've had the cart display a price without VAT in the past when I'm accessing it at work as we appear to be a US company due to our security arrangements, but on check out it corrects itself due to the UK shipping address.
