Z-Level when switching fro PLA with smooth sheet bed to PETG with TXT sheet bed
I am relatively new to this forum and to the 3d printing world so please have patience in my naivety. I have been printing successfully (I think) using the grey PLA provided with the MK3S kit. I used the 75x75mm Z-level process for that. Recently, I switched to PETG and a TXT bed (for easier removal of printed parts) and am having a host of problems. I use the 49 point mesh levelling. Here are my current results:
- my original z-axis was -1.197, PLA printed well
- I switched to TXT bed and PETG and the Z axis was WAY off, my Z-axis is currently -1.305 (I assume that is because the TXT sheet is much thinner)
- my results are catastrophic and I don't know what to do next
- a pic of the most recent 75x75 is below where you can see the initial diagonals are printing but not adhered to each other so they are easy to pull apart
- lowering the z-axis more and it works for a while, again the diagonals are still not adhered to each other and then the nozzle starts to clump and the print gets totally gummed up
- i then have to brush clean the nozzle and try again
But nothing seems to help me move forward. Am I too low? too high? Are there settings I should play with in the start up?
Suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Richard

Some additional perspective... this is the built-in z-leveling result and you can see there is inconsistency in the width of the extruded line, what does that indicate? And in this case the small rectangle also does not hold together.
Thanks again everyone

Everything is as it supposed to be, the textured sheet is thinner!
I have Z-1.9 on textured sheet for PETG and Z-1.62 on smooth PEI
Almost gave up on my brand new textured sheet, in the end I have two alternatives, throw it, or (against Prusas recommendation) clean it with dishsoap and water, hot water, lots of hot water, dry with paper towel, and immediately on the heated bed to get it really dry, 10min on both sides.
Never had a problem since

Thanks I will try that, and use your offset difference as a guide for my own. Seems like the sheets are about .475 different.

More like 0.28, at least mine is. Where do you get .475 from 🤔

AAA, now I get it, you mean the difference between yours and my sheet. That difference is irrelevant, it depends how we have our Spinda probes adjusted. You can not compare your -1.197 with my -1.602. You can only use the difference, about .3 lower for the textured sheet.

Sorry my bad, I meant my setting was going to be -1.477 based on your "difference". I actually started from scratch, took your advice and gave the bed a good cleaning and then started a new "texture1" profile, did the Prusa Z-lecveling exercise until ok and then did the 75x75 and wham! all good! i am now successfully printing with PETG on a TXT bed with no globbing! Yahoo.
Thanks for your help!

Your welcome, it feels nice to give something back.
Happy printing 👍
