Z-Axis self test error
Hi guys,
I've received a Prusa i3 MK3 kit recently, this is the 2nd unit that I've assembled by myself, and I've just finished to ensamble it a few hours ago...
Assembly process was fine, it took me like 8 hours to finish it.....however, during the initial setup, I've received an error message saying that Z-axis is not working properly...
While I was assembling the unit, I noticed that in order to rotate the screws attached to the Z-motors, they required some extra force in order to put the trapezoidal nuts on them...they seem to not rotate quite well, they are too tight....
I'm wondering if this could be the problem? as I remember from the 1st unit that I've built that they should rotate almost freely across the screws... they could be faulty?
During the Z axis test, I can feel that the Z-motors are working..however both screws don't rotate at all...a minute later I received the error message.
Any help with this issue will be very appreciated,

Hi Federico,
the leadscrew Trapezoidal nuts are normally delivered, half way down the leadscrew on the motor, were they particularly tight when you took them off. ?
there are two dust caps that should be at the bottom of the lead screws, these can cause problems if they are screwed down too tight.
some folk have reported tightness of the trapezoidal nuts if the fastenning screws are too tight,
the trapezuidal nuts have 4 holes, two are threaded and two are plain, the mounting screws should be put through the plain holes.
there is a short sleeve sticking out one side of the trapezoidal nuts, this sleeve should be downward on the leadscrew onside the X axis end pieces.

I've checked the points htat you mention, see my comments in red below:

- Yes, they were, the left one was even more tight than the right one.

- They aren't too tight, seems that they are not the problem.

- They are screwed into the plain holes, and the short sleeves are downwards on the leadscrews.
I think that the Trapezoidal nuts included in my kit were faulty, cause they were too tight when I took them off...how could I request a replacement for both?

Fastest way would be to contact Live Chat support. Go to https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/ and use the chat at the right bottom of the window. If you provide a video of the problem things will go faster. Have it uploaded and available when contacting them.
