Z-axis screw binds on nothing?

So i've assembled everything, and managed to even get calibrations to succeed some of the time (like 1/10 times) but almost every other time I get dragging on the right z-axis motor. The dragging/friction turns into a hard stop that sets the calibration point way below the top printed stops.

Occasionally (another like 1/10 or so) the lead screw just siezes up on the right (the left keeps going for a second or two.) . (Powered off the unit at this point*) When this happens I've unscrewed the trapezoidal nut that attaches to the X-axis and tried to turn the lead screw on the stepper (nothing attached at this point) and it will not go in the clockwise direction, it's completely frozen. When I move it back one step I can then move it forwards again.

I've tried swapping all the interchangable components between the two z axis, except for the motor themselves, and all kinds of different methods of screwing the trap nut on... it just doesn't seem to matter. Funny enough, since it only happens on transitions on the Z I was able to get the baterang to print since it didn't have a whole lot of layers. Everything else just goes wonky once the x axis gets out of z alignment and there's no saving em.

After digging through other notes, there was someone with a somewhat similar issue that had bound the screw on the conical dust cover, I rolled it up so it wasn't anywhere near the base (so it can spin freely visibly) and the screw still bound....

I'm kinda out of ideas here (other than buying a new motor + screw)

Have you tried contacting support via the live chat in the store? If it's a bad part they can help you troubleshoot it and send a replacement for free if it's under warranty.

Other than that, I'd use a clean toothbrush or small paintbrush to make sure there's no gunk in the lead screws that could be jamming the nuts, and inspect them to make sure they are not misshapen or damaged.

I didn't see a live chat option or I would have, I sent in a request via the form submission for support and got a respose that they saw the request, meanwhile I figured I'd ask here for more ideas to troubleshoot.

Definitely doing both of these right now.

Make sure you are logged in to the store or it won't show - and also disable/check any filtering extensions you may have that block ads or third party scripts.

Also - when you put the Z nuts back on, don't tigthen them fully yet - leave them a little bit loose until you run a z cal; once the axis is nice and level, then tighten them down and re-run z cal. This helps make extra sure they can move freely and aren't binding because of how they are secured.

If you can't see anything in the nuts or threads of the drive then check that you have the x axis smooth rods pushed in fully (look in the inspection windows and make sure there is no gap between the ends of the rods and the printed part) and make sure that the there is no twist in the the left and right printed parts ( take off the two top brackets and see if the backs of the printed parts are completly parallel to the main frame)

Yep, double checked this, they're flush and the end caps are flush with the mounting plate.

Update: I'm being sent a replacement motor as it appears to be the failure point. Thanks for all your help!
