Y Axis stuttering at same spot

I have a newly built Prusa MK3S and during printing, the Y Axis stutters/hesitates in the same spot in both directions.

I have done the following to try and troubleshoot.

  • Clean all Axis
  • Lubricate all Axis
  • Adjust belt tension (Y is 258, X is 248)
  • Recalibration for all steps

Here is an image of the first layer of a print. You can see the spot where it catches each time.  It also starts out with a misaligned first pass and starts out of the print border.

This is happening to all test prints that I have tried. Print in photo is the "Jeff Method" print that was recommended for fine tuning extruder height.

Any ideas or help would be wonderful. Thanks!

I found the problem. The issue was a loose motorshaft/pulley screw that was causing the pulley to slip when motor shaft was rotating rather than rotating with it.

Tightening the screw on the y axis pulley stopped the slipping and prints are working now.

RE: Y Axis stuttering at same spot

- The misplacement seems to be a shift in Y direction. Happened in the brim and in the right corner.
Did you slice the stl yourself or gcode file?
- The first layer looks to low, so the nozzle pushes the material in heaps.
There are a lot of stl's around. Most using about the same method. I use this one: https://www.printables.com/model/251587-stress-free-first-layer-calibration-in-less-than-5/files
