Y axis rattle/grinding

I have done almost every possible fix that I can think of to try removing this grinding sound, which turns into a rattle when the axis moves back and forth quickly.  I have replaced the bearings and rods with Misumi parts, greased them, adjusted the rod holders, loosened and tightened the belt, all with little to no luck.  Without the belt attached, the bearings roll smooth as butter, but the moment I install the belt, it starts.  If the belt is installed I can loosen the rod holders and it goes away, but if I tighten them at all it returns.  Additionally I have checked just about every bolt and non of them are loose.

Here is a video, since I have loosened the bearing nylock nuts, making it smoother, but it's only a little better since.

Any ideas to perfectly smooth the axis out?

A stepper motor does make noise.  When running, it will make everything around it that can rattle, rattle and buzz.

I have just got to the y belt stage of the build and am experiencing the same thing. I think i'll just come to peace with the fact that its a noisy printer and continue with the hope that once built completely, this silent mode people talk about will magically fix it! 😀

I have been noticing the exact same issue and wondering if there was a way to eliminate it. I guess if it's just noise and not causing any negative effects to the print, then I can deal with it. My concern was that the rattle was indicative of something being loose and affecting the print.

@travis-m5

I have yet to completely remove the rattle after many attempts of realignment. There is only a tiny but of slop on my y carriage so I don't 'think' it's doing anything to effect quality.  I was thinking when I eventually splurge on a bear upgrade I'm just going to go all the way and get some misumi linear rails rather than rods and bearings.
