XYZ Failing - Endstops
Hey ladies and gents,
When I go to Calibraton -> Show End Stops... when the PINDA is near a metal object it registers from 0 to 1.
But my X & Y are both on 1, Z goes between 0 & 1 as expected.
Printer has about 1 month solid printing, I changed some wiring for the extruder and now it won't XYZ cal and fails.
The belts are tight, black discs on the Z and loose and I get full travel up to top of z. There is no debris stopping the Y axis moving forward and back, everything is in a ligament and I can hear the Z stops hitting when it does the SelfTest. Grub screws on the gears are tight and no debris in or near the gears. Autohome works fine with PINDA finding its place and correct height.
Given the MK3 doesn't have sensors how can I test the XY stops are working properly??

when I move the table forward and back the Y Stop doesn't change from 1.
when I move the extruder from full left to right it doesn't change from 1.
the wiring is clean and doesn't obstruct or foul on the power supply or the Ensy case allowing garage to touch the orange Z mounts for x travel
The bearing slide nicely and are located as close together and straight as they can be.
Its weird, as everything was working perfectly and now since the wiring change something is not quite right??

I also just Flashed 3.3.0 RC and after trying the Z cal it fails and say endstops.
have moved back to the latest public release of 3.2.1-576 as "Show End Stops" is missing from 3.3.0 under Calibration : 😆

There are no endstops on the X and Y now. The Trinamic drivers sense when end of travel has been reached as the carriage / bed moves as far as it can go in either direction then hits the obstruction of the front / back endplates or the X ends. The drivers pick up the feedback from the motors to detect lack of movement.
It works well usually but anything interfering with the travel of the carriage or bed such as tight wiring or a cable tie in the wrong place can get misinterpreted as the end of travel.
If you want to test how this "endstop" detection is working then use the self test. That basically rams the X and Y to their limits in each direction and decides if each axis is a) travelling the correct distance and b) is reaching end of travel in the same place each time. If the selftest passes then X and Y "virtual" stops are operational.
If XYZ cal is failing following a wiring change than that must be the issue. The wiring change is limiting the travel of X or Y in some way and causing the failure. Remove your belts and move each axis by hand. Make 100% certain that ravel is smooth all the way and that the bed and carriage can physically reach the absolute end of their travel i.e. the X brackets and the Y endplates. On Y the actual bearings underneath the bed must hit the endplates back and front.

Definitely check the cable ties as a head might be obstructing.
A piece of heat shrink instead of cable ties at the E-Axes would be a much better solution.
