XYZ Calibration Failed - Check Axes

New MK3S kit.  Assembly completed.  Upon first calibration the carriage moves to the top of Z (and yes it is all the way at the top).  The hotend moves down and when it gets within 1cm give or take of the bed the error immediately comes up on the lcd.

Things attempted

Tested PINDA with screwdriver and sensor information - readings work normally switching between 0 and 1

Installed different firmware

Factory reset

doublechecked the black nuts on top of the z-axis for correct tightness

upgraded to latest 3.9.2 firmware

and several other small issues found by other people on the forums

the only "weird" thing is that under the temperatures section the PINDA probe is showing 0.  My brothers completed and working 2.5s shows 26 for the temp of the pinda sensor.  Looking through the menu the Calibration > Temp. Calibration menu item does not exist on my printer (have tried 3.9.1 and 3.9.2)

Any ideas?

And nevermind. Issue was the hotend was not sitting in the carriage correctly and was hanging slightly lower than it should have been.
