X-axis noise when fast movements

Hi There !

I'm enjoying my mk3s a alot, and i print PLA and PETG without any issue. I received the mk3s ready to go.

I tried TPU and the filament get stuck, so i had to follow the manual to disassemble the extruder.

Since then, the X-axis is making a strange noise. My prints are good, i found the good brand of TPU (SainSmart instead of Sunlu) and i'm able to print PLA, PETG and TPU without problem except this strange noise persist.

You'll notice that these "clicks" are there when the head is moving through very short movements; at the end of the video the travel is long and there is barely no noise. Clicks are louder on the video than IRL.

Despite the fact that my prints are good, i was wondering about the potentiel mecanical problems i could encounter later.

Thanks for the help !

RE: X-axis noise when fast movements

When you reassembled, did you ensure the heat break was fully tightened into the heat sink, and the nozzle is properly seated and torqued against the heat break -- i.e., you followed E3D's V6 assembly instructions to the letter?   I know it's a stretch, but a loose heat break "might" make this noise, but my guess is you'd see printing problems, too.  The only other place I'm guessing you'd get a metallic click is the bearings.  Any chance one of the housing screws isn't tightened?

I'm also assuming you aren't hearing a Y-Axis bearing that is moving - a loose U-bolt really makes the most sense for the noise.

Thank you for the answer. Yes i followed the guide to the letter; can't afford to break a 750€ printer 😉

I've checked all the screw, one was a little bit loose (top X-carriage) and i've tightened a bit. No effect on the noise.

I don't hear a thing coming from the Y axis; i'll try to tighten the screws of the X-axis a little bit more (only with hand of course). I imagine there is no way to overtight the screws by hand (little screwdriver to avoid too much torque) ?
