x axis length error in setup wizard

Hello,
I received the x axis length error. The carriage goes some cm on the Y-Axis, then drives completely to the righ where it crashes for ca. 5 seconds, then it goes to the left and there does not seem to be an issue. It then spits up the error message.
So far I have readjusted all cables (left and right side), re-adjusted all zip ties and loosened the screws of the back carriage at bit.

I believe it is because it crashes into the right side, that the fault must lie there, is that correct? Thank you for all help.

Please watch if the belt is aligned correctly.

Cheers

The belt is aligned perfectly, I have checked again. It is strange because it keeps crashing into the right side.

Are your X and Y driver cables swapped at the EINSY board?

Thank you for your answer. They are not. The carriage drives as it is supposed to drive. It just crashed into the right side repeatedly then goes back to the far left and gives me the error message.

Hi David,

I’ve seen X length errors happen for various mechanical reasons, can you please share pics of your X Axis motor/idler ends, and also the front back and sides of your extruder to check for assembly issues?

Thanks, I’m sure we can lick the problem together.

Hi,

I have uploaded a video here https://vimeo.com/307889423
As you can see it has no problem with the left side but chrashes for some seconds in the right side.

Re: x axis length error in setup wizard

Your X belt is *way* too lose, needs to be much tighter.

Probably past the point you can tension with the X motor.

What we do is loosen the X motor top two fasteners allowing it to rotate on the bottom fastener.

This will give you enough slack to loosely get a couple more teeth into the back of the extruder, then tilt the X motor back into place to verify tension, it should be stiff like a guitar string, but not outrageously tight.

Also it looks like your textile sleeve is *around* the support arm, it should be on-top.

Dude, thank you so much for mentioning this. This possibility was completely off my radar, mainly because during assembly the guide mentions that the Y axis belt should never be shortened, so I assumed it was also fine with the X axis. After trimming the belt, everything went smoothly and I am now off to the first over-night print with this printer. Thank you again so much, you really made my day!
