X Axis Assembly
I am working on assembling my printer, but am having a very difficult time with the x axis assembly step 7 (Inserting the rods). I managed to get the rods fully inserted into the idler half, but cannot manage to get them into the motor half. (Looks like it has at least a centimeter farther it needs to go in). Even with trying to square it up to a flat surface and pushing on it I can't seem to get it to budge. Does anyone have any tips / suggestions on how I can try and get these in?

carefully drill out the holes with 8mm drill.
or if you have one use an 8mm reamer!

I'll give that a try, is there a good way to remove the rod from the piece (Its stuck about halfway in.) Currently trying to hold the rod and gently tap the holder with a rubber mallet, but am not having much success.

boiling water to soften the part,
could even try pushing in whilst hot, if you feel lucky,,,
only heat the poorly fitted end!

a clamp that has enough working space to fit the assembly then you can slowly apply steady pressure to push the parts together so a bar clamp as used by woodworkers will work and may even be rentable at your local tool renting hardware store if you don't want to buy one though they are very useful around the house

My trick that works will without removing any plastic....
Chuck a 8 mm rod onto my variable speed Bosch drill.. You don't need a special size drill or reamer. Use one of the rods. The chuck will grip only the portion of rod that goes inside a mount. So no worry about marring a gliding portion.
Keep the rod spinning at moderate rate and advance it into each hole all the way in and back out. That precisely sizes the holes to a firm but doable degree of compression.
Don't spin for a prolonged period in the holes. You don't want to melt the plastic,
This also easily removes a stuck rod.
Y-axis holders that are too tight can also be taken care of in this manner.

Using my drill I was able to get them out and then back in. Ran it back and forth a couple times, cooling in between them, until it could be feasibly installed/removed by hand, but extremely snug.
I will definitely will pick up a pair of those clamps as they do seem like they would be useful to have around. Still in the early phases of changing from a pure coder to a more generalized maker so don't have any clamps yet. Thanks for the recommendation.
