What is in your toolkit?

Hi again,

After about two weeks with my new I3 MK3S, I understand I need to gear up a bit for routine mainenance and troubleshooting 🙂 So I was wondering... What do you guys have in your toolkit, besides the tools provided with the kit?
And what spare parts do you need? I see sets of 10 nozzles. Do you often need to replace a nozzle? I also see silicon protections for the heatblock... Is that useful?

I've seen a couple of "maintenance kits" on Amazon, like this one: https://amzn.to/3bSV218. Are these useful? They have three different flavours, V6, MK8, MK10... Looks like I would need the V6, is that correct?

Thnx for your advise!

You'll probably get more relevant answers if you ask this in the Mk3 section of the forum, this is the section for the mini, which may need different sizes of tools to the Mk3.

I would step away from that kit if you have a genuine Mk3S

the heatbreaks are wrong for the Mk3 they are PTFE lined at the hot end, which was last used on the mk1 Prusa five years ago...
the Heater blocks are similarly five years out of date.
and so are the silicone socks...

You shouldn't need Spatulas, with the Flex buildplate. so that pretty muchn leaves you with 10 nozzles, two pairs of pliers, a spanner and some accupuncture needles.

I don't use accupuncture needles... or those pressed metal spanners.

I prefer to use a box spanner something like this
https://www.amazon.fr/Way-Wheel-Cross-Wrench-Grey/dp/B00EQ1UD7Y/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?__mk_fr_FR=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&dchild=1&keywords=7mm+rc+wheel+nut&qid=1590174412&sr=8-1-fkmr0

or a socket spanner on a torque wrench like this https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3234943

when changing nozzles.

I also keep a spare extruder thermistor and heater (24 volt 40watt for the Mk3S)
and some lengths of silicone insulated flexible wire
16 AWG black and red, for the heatbed. and
24 AWG or 22 AWG rot the thermistors, motors, fans and sensors.
and a Brass brush  for removing' boogers!' off the nozzle.

regards Joan

Hi Joann,

Where do you get those? Can't find those on the Prusa shop, and I'm a bit confused on the E3D shop. Is it this: https://e3d-online.com/thermistor-cartridge ?
