Warping while printing

After completing a new build, and all tests great. The First Layer Calibration looks good after some tweaks. Then I try and print the PRUSA logo from the SD card. After about 5 layers in, the PLA begins to warp upwards obviously messing up the print. Any ideas?

Glue the piece down. Prusa includes a stick of glue. Long prints and thick corners tend to warp. Also gluing it down sometimes eliminates support. You can wash off the glue with soap and warm water.

NO.....you should NOT NEED GLUE.............that's INSANE.

I might start with a brim around the part. It's easier than all the mess of glue. It is SAD that 3D printing has been around for this many years, and we can't make printers that just print, and print right.....we have to "tweak" this, and tweak that.

The firmware software should monitor the filament and make suggestions.

The slicer /printer software should review the part and make suggestions (brims, support, hats, etc.)

I use brims and base supports as well and still get warps. You do not have to clean the brim and support material off, especially on fine detailed parts .

You can also add a part to create "mouse ears" on problematic corners if you don't want a full brim.

How much would you be willing to pay for such features? The current firmware has pretty well maxed out the board on the Mk3. Anything is possible, but the sensors required to "monitor filament" are likely to be complex.

The slicer /printer software should review the part and make suggestions (brims, support, hats, etc.)

PrusaSlicer makes recommendations on bridges (the blue highlights). So far as warping, much of that will depend on the filament and printing environment and thus be specific to each user's setup. Conditions that print well in the Arizona desert in July will be very different than those in New England in February.

I have been having this problem with silver pla .

Is this a bad plastic , prone to this problem ?

RE: Warping while printing

I'm think it's mostly the material (and the settings for that material).  3 days ago I printed a nameplate (with 3d letters flying out) for my wife with a 25% solid 6mm base.  I used black PLA Pro from 3D Fuel, came out perfect with no warp.  Every print that called for black got the PLA Pro all week.  In fact I printed spool holder arms 25 x 50 mm thick x 260mm long (printed diagonal) and they came out perfect.

Then yesterday I printed a plate full of chunky black fixture cores for work.  I switched to the Standard PLA from 3d Fuel for those because they're non-cosmetic.  The outside corners of almost every piece curled up.  I didn't much care and chalked it up to too much thickness in the base section.  The part should still function so I moved on mentally.

After I delivered the cores that were printing overnight I decided to make a couple more nameplates with some silk PLA I just received.  First the nameplates need a black base and I already had some black loaded.  Now I'm 5 hours into a 36 hour print and the filament change is happening in about 30 minutes.  It's 11:30 pm and past my bedtime but I'm staying up by reading this forum 🙂  Watching the printer has me concerned because there's a good 1mm curl at the front right edge.  Also I think my belts are too tight, the MK3 is not as stealthy as it should be.  I'm going to have to look into that when this print finishes.  But that shouldn't cause warp.  I've been using the same Prusament settings for everything I've printed all week. (I just built my printer last Saturday).  SO, that's the long way of saying I printed with Pro PLA and no warp.  I switched to Standard PLA and it warps.
