Upgrading MK3 to MMU2S

I'm sure this is obvious but I want to be sure.  I have the original MK3 and what I thought was the MMU2.  Never got around to installing the MMU2 just enjoyed the printer as it came.  Now I want to add the MMU2,  knowing I purchased the MMU2 I ordered an upgrade from the MMU2 to MMU2S.  Turns out the MMU kit I received already was an MMU2S so I wasted a few dollars on the upgrade lol.

So my questions is:  Does the MMU2S upgrade turn your printer into a MK3S?  ie if I decided to uninstall the MMU2S does it leave me with a MK3S or back to the MK3?  I'm on the fence about installing the MMU2S in that I do use flex on occasion and I know the MMU2S isn't happy with flex.

Thanks

RE: Upgrading MK3 to MMU2S

Hi,

MMU2 does not goes well with FLEX. My Ninjaflex I can't let it load automatically, so it need to be done manually and is always a big pain. That's why I'm using my MK2.5 for flex printing and can recommend you the upgrade only in case you have another printer for highly flexible materials.

Your MMU2s upgrade will turn your printer to MK3S+MMU2s. You're switching from photo filament sensor to the IR sensor with the ball. As you have all parts available, you can switch to MK3 or MK3s whatever you prefer.
