Top layer with weird ripples

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen this happen with their prints? It seems like the top layer of a flat surface always ends up with these weird ripples, not sure what's causing it... I've attached an image of what it looks like.

Does anyone know what could be done to fix this? I just recently built a new Prusa i3 mk3s kit.

Using the included prusament (PLA) filament for this print.

(Also attached gcode for the model I printed)

Print temp was 205c, rather than Prusament spec 215c. This could cause adhesion issues.

Also - your photos show what looks like over-extrusion in the top layer; and the gcode has bridge fill set to 95% rather than 80% ... you might try using the default Mk3S and Prusament profiles to see if it works better.

That's odd, at the beginning you can see it's setting the temperature to 215 on line# 24:

M104 S215 ; set extruder temp

And then it goes down to 205... weird, I didn't really select anything other than I ticked override slic3r settings so I could change the layer height to 0.4 instead of 0.2...

I'll double check my settings when I go home.

(I was using Prusa i3 mk3s printer, and the PLA 0.2 Quality setting)

Ah -- that would be another problem. The 0.4 mm nozzle doesn't really do well at 0.4 mm layer height. The default limit is somewhere around 0.25 mm, and while you can push it to 0.35 if you are careful and very lucky, a 0.4 nozzle will lay down a 0.4 mm diameter log on top the part - and that log doesn't have any contact surface at all.

Ah, makes sense! Thanks I'll try it out when I get home. Appreciate your help on this.
