Temperature tower
Hi,
Yesterday I saw I had some stringing in my prints (I'm a newbie). The temperature tower looks very good at 180º and it goes worse the hotter it prints (I'm using PLA). Here are some pictures of how it looks
As you can see, it looks way better at the bottom than at the top. At the bottom, we have 180º and at the top, we have 250º.
So, what I did was to set up 180º to print as it seemed to have the best results. When I did, though, the 3d stopped printing. I feel like the nozzle got cloaked, I'm checking it up now.
How can I print with good quality if lowering down the temperature doesn't work but it's when it gives best results? How do you manage this?

Hi,
I have an update. I removed and put the filament again and heat it up to 250º and it started to extrude. Then, I tried to print a 3d figure again and it worked.
Now, I don't have stringing but in the middle of the figure, there's almost no filament. Before and after it works well. What can the issue be? I attach pictures.
On the other hand, how can I improve the surface? I see many lines. Less distance between layers?

Hello. In general, PLA is a material that doesn’t do well in hot temperatures, print or post print. For example, even the temperature of a car on a hot day can deform PLA. Printing at 250 is a very high temperature for PLA. In my experience, PLA (all brands) print best in a range of 205 - 215. I would expect that the reason you have no filament in some layers of that print is because the filament might have been bubbling from heat and extruding poorly. I hope that my tips help 🙂

The filament was totally new. I opened it from the plastic bag and started printing. Now, lowering the printing temperature helps with filaments around (stringing) (they are not more anymore, using a 200º temperature) and I'm trying to smooth the layer looks. Haven't found how to do it yet though.
This really ought to be a sticky somewhere.
New does not mean dry.
It was packed dry and often with dessicant but you have no way of knowing how long it sat in the wholesale warehouse, how long at the retailer, how it was treated there and in transit. It is very common for new filament already to be damp.
