Stringy Benchy

Hey everyone, I built this printer about two years ago and there was an issue with it. I never got around to finishing the project, and I finally got it up and running, but now, I printed my first benchy using Prusa PLA, and it came out stringy. I don't quite remember all that I used to know about printing, and was wondering if I could get some pointers as to why this may be occurring? Thank you all in advance!! 🙂

Is this a new spool of PLA filament or maybe the one which came with the printer when you purchased it two years ago? .If so, how it has been stored ?.

From these pictures, it looks like filament that has been kept in the open for a long time and it's saturated with moisture. Apart from that, maybe the print settings are way off or something else is amiss in the hardware. What was the issue that prevented you from finishing the printer  assembly 2 years ago ?. Have you been able to fix it properly now ?. Did you perform a complete selftest of the machine before printing this Benchy ?.

In order to help, we need as much information as you can give us.

Hi!

I had made a mistake with the IR sensor plug (white cable was on the wrong side, so it was oriented wrong), and the PINDA sensor was misaligned. Life ended up getting in the way.

It's since been fixed, had a full self test, and it seems you were right! The filament had been out in the open. I'll go get a filament dryer. Thank you!
