Strange, occasional vertical lines, and surface imperfections
When printing a container with a threaded top I modeled in Fusion 360, and sliced with Slic3r PE 1.41.0, I am getting some strange flaws with the print. There are vertical lines going up the body in several places, the lid has little dots all around the edges, there is a ring a few mm from the top of the lid, and a few mm from the bottom of the body, and a tiny notch at the top of the lid. The lid was printed upside down, so the ring is actually occurring in the same place as on the body. I checked to stability of the table (it seems to have been already very sturdy), stabilized it even more by bracing it to the wall just in case, and did a second print of the lid. The imperfections are almost exactly duplicated on the 2nd print, with that notch even being in the exact same place.
I checked the preview in Slic3r, and there is nothing to indicate that these errors would happen. Any possible thoughts?

Re: Strange, occasional vertical lines, and surface imperfections
yep I get those also. My best example is printing that ECOR calibration object, and no matter what it ALWAYS does one of those at the exact same spot.
Possibly unrelated but have you ever pushes or pulled on the top crossbar of the vertical frame plate. Side to side it probably wont move much, but front to back, oh my goodness. Surely the force required to push the frame out of alignment by hand, is less than the force that the printer moves itself at at times? Try gently pushing and pulling the top of the frame to front and back, and note the effect on the print. FUN!

Re: Strange, occasional vertical lines, and surface imperfections
The vertical lines are seams. They are where layers end and the next one starts.

Interesting, I wasn't aware that was even a thing. After googling I see that it's an almost unavoidable problem, but why doesn't the lid have those? Is that what those "pits" are? Just randomized instead of in a line?
And any ideas on how to fix the ring around the bottom of the body and top of the lid, or the little notch almost directly under the top of the lid?
Re: Strange, occasional vertical lines, and surface imperfections
The rings around the top and bottom are because it's printing the floor and ceiling as rings filled with solid layers, while the space between is just shells with infill. The two types of interior will connect differently to the outer shell. It's probably impossible to hide completely, but I'd imagine more shells or higher infill density would probably make the effect less noticeable.
