Some prints work, some don't

I see others having the same problem and not sure if I should look at upping the temp to 235C or looking at the tension.

The smaller print is perfect but when I go to print a bigger print it cant do the first layer most of the time without getting very stringy and then the filament will randomly buildup on the extruder at times. It doesn't consistently clog as it does print perfect some times but not sure what I'm missing as I would expect the Z calibration being off then none of the prints would be good.

Any suggestions as to what I should look at first?

- 1" x 1/2" Nozzle prototype

- 816 feeder

Thanks

I noticed the first layer was being done at 230C and other layers 240C. I changed the first layer to 235C which seems to be working so far.

It was better but still failed.

Is anyone else changing this first layer to be higher than 230C? I'm thinking the first layer is not hot enough causing problems extruding and then will sometimes blob and everything goes bad from there.
