slicer difference new alpha and release version

I have a stl file from thingiverse which slices different in 2 slic3r PE versions. ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2821348/files )
In the alpha version the part snaps off easily because it is printed almost completely separate.
I can't find any different settings between the versions. Can anyone explain why this happens and how to fix it in the alpha version?
slic3r 1.41.2:

slic3r 1.42.0-alpha4:

I Think it has something to do with the autorepair. If i "repair" the model in the new alpha version, it get's even worse:

Re: slicer difference new alpha and release version

Your object consists of multiple nearly touching objects, but they are actually separate bodies.

Slic3r 1.41.2 and older used to close gaps between touching surfaces. Slic3r 1.42.0-alpha (now alpha5) does not do that.

In the future, we will likely add a configurable parameter of gap size to close, which we will set to the same value as in 1.41.2 by default.

It sounds like there are some significant changes going on under the hood. Anything exciting coming our way?
