Should the power switch light up?

The printer is working fine but today I noticed the power switch wasn't lit. To be honest I have never looked at it so if it ever lit I wouldn't know.  There are many switches that look as if they should and don't. Just asking.

Hi All

Quick update. The power light on the PSU switch should light up (confirmed by helpdesk). They asked if all else is fine is it really an issue to which I replied "at nearly £800 I would like ALL the bits I paid for to work". They offered a replacement PSU (which was good) but I didn't want to be without my printer for any extended period and suggested that if they sent a replacement IE C13 socket I would fit it. No joy as they don't stock parts they buy in complete PSU's, which is fair enough. I then suggested a wee discount on filament would be a nice gesture. No joy on that front either. Well at least I tried.

So whats the deal, you have to send your PSU first then they send replacement.

Don't know if it'll work but try suggesting they courier replacement PSU and you have the old one packaged ready to give to same courier for return. Worth a try?

I agree completely re. wanting the "light-up" switch to light up. If anything goes wrong, it's a quick check that the wall socket has power, fuse hasn't blown, IEC cable is good and fully home.

It's not a deal breaker but it would have been a nice gesture. At around £2.99 for a replacement a wee discount voucher wouldn't have hurt.

P.S. looks like Olef's isn't working either 🤣

RE: Should the power switch light up?

The old silver PSUs did not have light up switches. Sounds like the newer black ones do.

Apologies to Olaf. I stripped it down. My black PSU has no LED inside the switch so it never would light up.

Guess we all learned something here. Both my PSU's are the older silver ones and are not lit but it sounds like some of the newer ones may be. Perhaps a variation in component suppliers 🙂

Or maybe, just maybe Support gave some wrong information and none of them actually light up.

I'm thinking support goofed or has the printers mixed up. I've never seen a Mk3 light up.

All I can guess there were crossed wires (hah!) with support and they got it mixed up with the Mini's PSU which does have a blue LED on it. The MK3/S power supplies have never had status LEDs.
