Should I just give up?

I had a clog in my printer so I tried fixing it and managed to mess it up even further I think. While trying to remove the white tube thing, I ended up burning the extruder body and fan shroud and I also someone pulled the fan away from the wires. So if it is salvageable, I know i need a new body and new fan and new fan shroud. I can't tell if I need a new assembled hot end. I have tried loading filament just to see if it will go through but it is still blocked and I can't figure out how to unclog it or even where the clog is (and there may not be one, I may have just screwed it all up). Basically, can anyone look at the pictures below to tell whether there is even a point to trying to fix it or do I have a 750 paperweight and should just give up? Even with the messed up extruder body, if the PLA is not coming through the nozzle, does that mean the whole thing is dead? Thanks...

Don't give up, not yet.

Looking at the angle you probably need a new hot-end assembly and some printed parts but I doubt there's more than 100$/e worth of parts needed.

Take a set of pictures from all angles then get in touch with Prusa Support:  Log into your Eshop account, navigate to Help and live chat is at bottom right in most browsers. If not you may need to disable your ad-blocker temporarily.

They will be able to work out exactly what's needed.

Cheerio,

Thanks for the advice. One update, I changed the nozzle and now I can load the filament and it came through the nozzle (so the problem was obviously the old nozzle).  My hope is that means the hot-end assembly still works and I just need the new printed parts. Does that sound right?

It is a bit difficult to see with the wires and such in the photo if they are frayed or anything from that photo. But if the hotend is heating up, reaching a temp and hold it you should be good. For the plastic parts, if you are in North America, you could check with www.printedsolid.com to see if you could buy the extruder parts from them and save on the shipping costs, or maybe a local maker space or 3d print service could assist you as well with this.

As far as giving up, That would be up to you. My advice, don't. With anything new, there is going to be growing pains and learning curves. After you get past those, that is when the real enjoyment and satisfaction comes into play.

Good luck 🙂

Are you in the US. If you are I can print the replacement parts for that area and ship them to you.
