Self Test X Axis Error
I finished building my i3 MK3S+ and have had several issues, but as they came up, I have solved them. (They were all assembly issues.)
It's been a slow go because I have only one working hand.
When it gets to the X Axis portion on the self test, I get the X Axis length error.
The extruder wiggles back and forth a bit (at most a few inches) and then the error pops up.
I have gone through the assembly and troubleshooting instructions I can find, and I am stumped. Among the things I have tried include flashing the firmware and lubricating the rods.
Any ideas?

Does the x axis move without rough spots from left to right when you move it slowly by hand.
Try loosening the screws that fit the back plate on the exturder. If you overtighten these that bearings can deform and bind on the smooth rods.

I got something trapped in the channel the belt goes through - which cause similar issues

As Balkin said - X issues are almost always 1: poorly wrapped extruder harness - cable ties dangling, wires hanging - or just as common the extruder case crushing the bearings.
The extruder must be able to freely move so that it touches the left and right X brackets - plastic to plastic. And, as a side note, gravity should be able to move the extruder when powered off. Tilt the printer and the axis should slide down. The bed does the same, but generally takes less tilt to get it going.
Any obstruction to the left and right stops, like a cable tie that hits the power supply or Einsy case, is a problem.
Here's a photo of the left side in contact with the bracket. The fan screws are almost touching the threaded rod, and the plastic of the extruder behind the fan is touching the plastic of the bracket. This contact is what sets the X home position.

The screws were too tight on the back plate.
The screws are MUCH looser than my mechanical intuition says they should be.
The extruder head and bed do not move under gravity, but the move smoothly.
