PSU bad??? Just completed kit -- won't power on

So, I bought the MK3S+ in March 2021.  I had gone full-tilt assembly soon after ... buuut ... I had some life pauses along the way, and I just finished building my kit this week!  Yeah.

Anyhow, fully built, fully double checked the wiring, set the SuperPINDA height, checked the nozzle clearance through the full mechanical travel of X and Y, read the self-check steps ... ready for power.

Plugged it in, flipped the switch ... nothing.

PSU fuse is good.  Both 5A fuses are good.  15A fuse is good.  Continuity from PSU to the board is good.

And, finally, voltage at the PSU terminals is 0.0 on both sets (V1+ & V1- and V2+ and V2-).

I would like to know 2 things.

1) Agree that my PSU is fucked?

2) When the PSU is powered on, is the little LED as seen in the photo supposed to light up?

Cable plug is fully inserted into PSU? Fully? As in *really*?

Ask me why I ask....

I try to give answers to the best of my ability, but I am not a 3D printing pro by any means, and anything you do you do at your own risk. BTW: I have no food for…

Fair question!  Yes, the power cable was fully inserted and plugged into the wall and the switch in the correct position.  Power outlet voltage was good, 117VAC.

Does anything light up?

Do you get a short burst of fan activity?

Cheerio,

The reason people ask about the iec cable being fully inserted is that thing is TIGHT.  Over tight compared to most iec sockets, you think its in but its not until you really force it in there.  You appear to have a meter so check that mains is actually getting to the PSU.

Yeah, understandable, because it is obnoxious and unnecessarily tight.  I've even used different power cables with the same configuration.  They are all bottomed out.

I am not precisely certain of what you're mentioning for "mains," but if I do understand it correctly, I've already stated in my original post that I measured 0.0 volts on V1 and V2.

CAN NO ONE ANSWER THE QUESTION ABOUT THE LED???  CAN YOU NOT SEE YOUR LED GLOWING WHEN YOU POWER IT ON?  EVEN IF YOU HAVE THE COVER OVER IT, DO YOU NOT SEE A GREEN GLOW?

By Mains, I'm referring to Mains voltage whatever it happens to be in your country (115/230).  Personally I'd be taking the cover off and checking that mains voltage is exiting the IEC connector just to make sure.  I have a fair bit of experience working on 'live' equipment though, if you aren't familiar then its not something I would recommend checking.

I can't answer the led question, one I have the older silver power supply, its been that long since I built it that I cant remember if it even has one, the PSU is mounted under my enclosure at the back against the wall and the printer is currently doing an over night print so its not like I can poking about round there at the moment to check.  I will take a look tomorrow if no one else replies but its likely to be in another 22-24 hours time.

Just checked mine.  That little green LED comes on when power is switch on.  Plugged in, power switch off, LED is off.  Plugged in, power switch on, LED on.

Thank you!  I don't know what the problem was, but I just found out the same as you.  Problem seemingly resolved.

So, I'm in North America with 120V out of the wall socket.  Instead of lunch, I took the cover off, and I was going to lift the board out.  I undid all the corner screws and the center screw for the neutral.  The IEC socket kept the board from coming out, so first, I checked to see that the switch was working and getting power to the board.  It was (see first photo link).  Then I reconnected the white plug, flipped the switch on, and the LED lit up!  I have no idea what happened, but somehow, just moving the board around must have shifted something, because now I have 24VDC coming out of the terminals.  Very frustraing!  🤬 😡

I just Drag and Drop pictures into the bottom of the text entry box

In windows the text box goes blue, when the file is dragged into the correct position. when this happens. I drop the file

OK, so something was loose and not making contact.

Presumably it is still loose.

Check all the connections in turn and pull and reinsert all plugs to ensure this does not recur.

Given the description and your last pictures I would be betting on the white connector was loose, maybe during shipping, and that when you plugged it back in the connection was made good again.

Anyway button it back up, test it again and if its supplying voltage carry on and hopefully enjoy printing.
