Prusament Silver PLA won't stick (MK3S). Confused.

My MK3S is built very square and gives great results with PLA, PETG and ABS. I've printed hundreds of things using multiple materials and brands mostly without issues (this is in my office around 68-70 F).  I just tried silver Prusament PLA as my usual Hatchbox and Amazon brands are out and it simply won't stick to the textured bed. I sort of got it to stick by raising the bed temp to 85, but it still peeled mid-print and that's with an 8mm brim. Layers look perfect once is goes and measuring the filament it is very consistent if slightly undersized. I also tried various bed temps, extruder temps, z-heights, flow rates etc. I cleaned the bed with multiple methods - windex, IPA, Soap and water, scuffed it with scotchbrite pads you name it and tried a new bed also. PRUSA PETG prints perfect and so does ABS (ABS literally looks perfect). Funny that PLA which is normally the easiest won't print but ABS does. I even printed the last of my silver hatchbox PETG and PLA right before it and that printed perfect. I can't get any more hatchbox right now due to back order. What's the magic ticket to get this stuff to work?

PLA you should print on a pei steel bed, is easier.

Powder coated bed is possible, but not easy.

Clean bed with dish soap and a lot of hot water, and nothing else.(very important).

The first layer should be 100%, to get sticking very good,  and on a powder coated bed it should be a little lower.(this is very important). Let us see a picture of your first layer.

Let the printer heat up( I print in a enclosure and leave with this cold weather the door a little open, in the summer all the way open with PLA).

First layer, print hotter 10 degrees.

Bed temperature for the whole print 10 higher.

Print with a big brim attach to model.

Do not let cold air hit the printer.

Use glue stick if needed.

I've found that PLA is the most tricky to get to stick on the textured sheet, and by comparison I appear to have one of the 'good' ones.

Lately I've been 'tuning' the Z calibration for the textured sheet to get the best textured pattern on the bottom of the print, as opposed to the appearance on the top of calibration squares.  I've been adjusting things so that the 'brush strokes' disappear, giving a consistent textured surface on the print.

I know I've been criticized for suggesting this, but I've found that the Layerneer Bed Weld really helps with PLA as an adhesion enhancer.  It's particularly useful for prints that have small footprints and especially with small support footings (those very small 'square waves') on the textured sheet.  If you don't have this, try a thin coat of glue stick.  The Layerneer, however, gives a much thinner coat and does not result in artifacts on the lower layer of the print as glue stick often will.

@jsw

I am having issues getting that textured appearance on that first layer. The brush strokes dominate the dappled look at the moment. I did as you suggested and tried to lower the head even further.. but then you end up with a rougher upper side of the calibration square.

I was able to get some more hatchbox, and printed perfectly again. Looks like I just need to stay away from Prusament PLA unless I got some bad stuff.

Some Prusament rolls give people fits.  I have never had this issue.  It might be luck (or unlucky) of the draw.

I'm a newbie, but FWIW I've had the same experience with the silver filament that came with the 3S.

60C bed and purple washable gluesitck works most of the time, but I have had curls on large flat prints.

30C and painters tape (green, blue, etc) works every time for me. Leaves somewhat of a texture tho.

BTW I tried hairspray and various cleaning methods, and none of those helped.

Update... I did get some improvement by doing the 3x3 test and found my bed center was low, so did the more advanced bed leveling and got better results. That said, other PLA filaments still seems to work better than the prusament.
