Prints tend to shift in the middle of a long job
Hi all,
I just updated my printer firmware to 3.3.1 hoping it would resolve the issue I am having with prints shifting to the right in the middle of a long job. I am running a Original Prusa I3 MK3 (factory built - not a kit). Since I received the unit it tends to shift to the right in the middle of a print (if the print job is big enough). Here is an example of a car mirror holder I made ...

Does anybody have any suggestions on what I could change to fix this?
I am creating the model in Fusion 360 - exporting as STL. I open the STL in Slic3r - I tried with the new default setting provided as well as with support material (as shown in the pictures above).
Thanks in advance!

Re: Prints tend to shift in the middle of a long job
does it always shift the same way? on the same axis?
Ive had two layer shift issues so far, one was crash detection not working as intended, turning it off solved my issue. This issue layer shift was not axis dependent.
The other was not enough belt tension on the extruder axis and tightening the belt fixed it right up. This issue layer shift was always to the right when viewing printer from the front, this is why i looked into the belt being loose as possible cause.
Also i noted that the belt tension displayed in the diagnostics screen does not update regularly at all, it said my belt tension was good when i had my issue, displayed 205. Which it may have been when i built it, but it was loose and when i tightened it up it still displays as 205 even after several hundred hours of printing, so do not trust it to be accurate IMO.

The belt tension status only updates after doing a self test from the calibration menu.

Thanks, this is good to know.
