Printing flex material

I just purchased some Kodak flex filament to try out.

Will I need an enclosure because the printer is in my room?  Flex filament is not noxious more than pla or petg is it as the the only thing I print currently with is pla and petg?  I have had no bad health affects yet from PLA or PETG except the sugary smell from PLA.

Also, what is the best temp to print flex at?

I am using a .6 diameter nozzle.

Thanks for your help.

RE: Printing flex material

No enclosure needed - most flex is polyurethane, TPU, and is pretty much odorless.

If you are using a smooth PEI flex sheet -- ADD GLUESTICK before printing. TPU sticks way too good and is extremely difficult to remove without damaging the sheet.

I print TPU using my standard PLA profile. But I know that some of the faster extrusion paths are under extruded.  But so far it has worked fairly well for me - and seems to reduce stringing over the generic flex profile I tried once.

@tim-m30

Thanks tim.  So It doesn't release any more VOC's than PLA or PETG

Regarding the sticking advisory may be enough reason for me to buy another pei sheet.  I put some deep scratches in my current one from the extruder due from learning about leveling and understanding other mechanisms.  If I go to the glue method which I have never done before because a Prusa was the second printer that i bought.  My first was a xyz and only ever did one print on it and sold it and never used glue to hold objects down.

Yes I am a bit lazy and do not want to have to be scrubbing and washing my pei sheets for Pla use then flex use.  I will buy a new pei sheet and relegate my current sheet for special filament that requires glue stick usage and use my new sheet for filaments that only need some alcohol to clean the bed.

Thank you,

Good luck cleaning with alcohol on a smooth PEI sheet. While recommended by Prusa, it doesn't always work.
