Printer restarts after 10 seconds, returning to welcome screen
When I turn my newly assembled printer on I get the initial menu. If I select the self test I hear a fan start, and then I'm back to the initial menu. If I select no, I'm back to the initial screen asking me to do the self test.

Click on the EShop button, then the Chat button in the lower right.
That will get you to support. They can help you diagnose it.

Is that what he did?? Sheesh... Prusa needs to change that X to a skull and crossbones...

Yes, that is indeed what I did. I should have read more of the manual.

Pass black ou red marker in the "X" to see it well very well. Possibly note this in the assembly guide for good advice.
