"Please check: Axis Length" error

I ordered an assembled i3, and it's been printing fine until just now, when I got a error message that calibration failed. I went through the system setup wizard, and it keeps failing with the message: "Please check: Axis length: Axis Y"

I built the lack table enclosure, and took the plastic piece off the end of the bed (where the wires connect to the print bed) to make it fit. Could this be causing the problem? How do I fix this error?

Hi Brad, if the wires are touching the back of the enclosure you will get this failure.

I believe there are 90 degree and 60 degree clamps for the back of the heatbed, available on thingiverse

these may help

The parts on Thingiverse didn't fit on my printer. When I was building the enclosure, I could see that the video was based on an older version of the printer. The wires on the heat bed from a new, assembled i3 printer do not fit with the parts you have on Thingiverse.

cut a clearance hole in the back of your enclosure to be sure nothing touches at full travel of the bed

I removed the lid entirely, but still get the error. What exactly triggers this? Something obstructing the Y-Axis? It seems to move freely.

Re: "Please check: Axis Length" error

I'm still getting this error, despite the fact that the printer is unobstructed, no longer in the enclosure, and the Y-Axis isn't bumping into anything.

I turn the printer off then on again, run the system test, and it always fails on Y-Axis, telling me to check it's length. How can the length even change? What could trigger this error if the bed is moving freely?

Please help. I loved this printer, and got 30-40 prints with no problem, but now it won't print.

Check to make sure the y-axis pulley grub screw is tight against the flat part of the stepper motor shaft. If it has come loose or fallen out it can cause issues like this.
