PINDA Sensor Lighting Up During Print

Hi all,

I apologize if this is a silly question, but I looked through the manual, build guide, and forum and haven't received a clear answer. I just finished assembling my MK3S last night and did a couple of test prints. No issues with the printer at all, everything appears to be functioning properly.

However, I had a question about the PINDA sensor. The PINDA sensor is lighting up during the print, is this normal? At lower layers, it appears to flash as the extruder goes back and forth, once it hits say, layer 10, the PINDA sensor stays on constantly. Again, there is nothing wrong with the printer, and the prints that are coming out are beautiful. I just wanted to make sure I didn't mount the PINDA sensor incorrectly and am risking damaging it.

Thanks!

That's completely normal. The Pinda sensor is inductive and on the first few layers it's low enough to get triggered, while traveling z-hopping is enabled on default which means it rises the z-axis, which "untriggers" the Pinda as it's not close enough to the metal sheet anymore.
