Over Extrion blob after color change

Hi guys - I am printing 2 colors without a MMU - using the m600 - for the most part it works well - using the M600 Gcode. I am  not using a wipe tower as it has caused more issues. However when I change the color - it expels the filament until the color is correct - continues to it's position and plops down a blob of filament in the sport it starts, is there a way to get it to print a skirt instead and then continue?

Thanks

I solved the issue - her method of "dealing with it" does not stop the print from crashing into the blob or causing issues with the print - here is the correct way to solve the problem:

In Prusa Slicer under

  • Printer Settings>Extruder
  • Change section close to bottom "Retraction when tool is disabled" to 0 to disable it - the number 4 may be present there
  • Repeat step for any other extruders listed

I changed the length from 4 to 0 and upon the filament change - it just went back to it's position and NO MORE BLOB!

Going to add this to that other post.

RE: Over Extrion blob after color change

Thanks Diem - yep that is exactly the procedure I am using - you can see Joan also mentions the "extra dribble"

I am trying to see if there is a way to fix that from happening.  (unless I missed what you were pointing to?)

Thanks

Hi Marko, I have no idea why the printer expells the extra dribble....   it just  does, other manufacturers printers using Marlin, report the same functionality...some folk say it's necessary to pressurize the extruder after the load... I dont know any betterI just found a way to deal with it

I meant you to use her method of dealing with it ...

Your skirt idea would effectively reduce the print-area to about half size, probably less than using a wipe tower as you have to allow space for the extruder to descend.

And even if you dialled the dribble out at the beginning many filaments will absorb water and begin dribbling before the end of a long print.
