Nut socket in printed part stripped

See image. In using the screw pulling technique, I turned the screw too far and stripped the plastic part. Now the nut turns with the screw and I can't get the screw out, even after trying to jam a utility knife between the nut and plastic to hold it in place.

I think I will probably have to order a replacement printed part, but since that would mean waiting, I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas to try?

I thought maybe if I could get the screw out, I could use some epoxy to secure the nut in place for the assembly.

Or is it beyond hope?

If you have a friend with a 3D printer maybe they can print a replacement part for you. If not, you can try to locate someone nearby to print the part. The Prusa website has libraries for all the printable parts.

In the meantime, if you have a vice, try clamping the part across the width to see if you can create enough compression to ‘lock’ the nut in place while you try to back out the screw. You could try the same thing using channel lock pliers. Don’t go too tight or you could crack the part.

Good luck.

Cheers

Or maybe you can find help on Prusaworld: https://world.prusa3d.com/

RE: Nut socket in printed part stripped

While putting together my MMU2S I had a deep hole that needed a nut and I had the same issue. I could not push the nut out, nor further in and it just spun when the screw tried to tighten it.

My solution was to wedge toothpicks into the crevices until the nut was bound enough to not twist.
