Noobie: Kit: Benchy spaghetti.. what do I tune?
Brand new, calibrated and printed 1st print and so did benchy Included pics. Absolutely perfect, (I think) until roof. Using silver PRUSA PLA that came with kit and printed benchy from SD card included. As I'm just learning about overhangs and stuff, can really use some help in what I should do to track down issue. I've included pics.. Love this printer!

You can just make out the bottom of the benchy in the first pic. The live z is too high, needs moving closer to the bed to get proper first layer squish. The lines arent fused together at all.

Please post a picture of the bottom of that failed benchy.
Also try washing your sheet with dish detergent and plenty of hot water. IPA alone is not enough to cut greasy fingerprints that can cause adhesion issues.

I did clean with 99% IPA, but I did not wash.. I will do and try again.. think I need to print some overhang test? I also noticed in the line test that the line was not 100% smooth .. the long lines had some 'spurts' in them.. so if you look at a long line, there was some hint of a section a little thinner, followed by a little thicker.. very subtle.. maybe only 4 in a line (when I looked at the first print test of the 4 long lines and the little rectangle. I did a dynamic Z operation and changed the Z axis until I got the 'correct' squish.

I have the Z at about -1.1 .. I had seen that and it appeared it was too high so kept reducing to -1.5, but actually scored my bed a bit.. but maybe it needs to be about -1.3 .. any chance the heat is too low and not fluid enough?
I think @neophyl has it. Please show us your first layer Z calibration print.

Here was the current setting (-1.100 on right) and I cleaned the table with alcohol then mild soap, damp towel.. benchy was fine until roof and then lifted off bed.. I did a new first layer calibrate print (on left side) .. attached.. you'll see the new -1.340. I thought that was too squished when I viewed sideways, but I have zero experience.. so if anyone can tell me if the 2nd looks better.. I'll retry benchy tomorrow.. Am wondering if I need better adhesion in first layer such as higher bed temp or maybe some glue.. but it is PLA and I have read sheet is fine as is..

That -1.350 looks much better. Also notice that the right angle on the single line leading into the rectangle has a crisper corner, which is good. The Z-offset is the one essential setting that everything depends upon. Using glue or changing temperatures will not compensate for a Z-offset that is not dialed in well enough. I think you could go a bit lower for maximum adhesion. The picture below is what you are aiming for with the bottom of your benchy. Notice that the lines of fill snug up to the perimeter.

Thanks to all that helped.. the lowered Z axis did the trick. I will play around more .. but seems quite good!

That looks like a great benchie. Could possibly do with going even a bit lower with z as theres still a few gaps but the actual benchie itself looks very good.
I wouldn't worry about those fine hair strings, just get a blue flame lighter and a quick 1 second pass will make them shrivel right up and clear them away.
