No movement during first layer calibration

Hi!

I bought a preassembled Mk3S and an MMU2S, so the printer has worked before leaving the factory.

Now, when I try to adjust the first layer print out, the extruder is working, but neither the head nor the bed moves, so all it does is extrude a big blob of liquid filament.

What to do?

RE: No movement during first layer calibration

It sounds like the situation that I had last week. I checked that the IR sensor is reporting 1 when there is filament between the extruder gears. In my case, the sensor was flipping back to 0 after a split second. I found somebody else having the issue, and their recommendation was to adjust the housing/chimney with the sensor to ensure that it works all the time reliably. Since that little change, I'm able to extrude correctly and did the first layer calibration. There was another recommendation floating around in the forum to disable the filament sensor entirely. I tried that, and it didn't work at all for me.

Thanks.

I've tried to adjust the setting screw for the sensor, all the way from it almost falling out to so tight that the feeder gear just stutters (unable to move the filament). No effect on the printer, but even when I loosen the scre again, the filament is now stuck in the print head and the MMU can't pull it back out.

Edit:

I should add that I have no way of reading the sensor outputs.

I am having this exact same issue, and don't understand what the fix is supposed to be.. How do you adjust the housing and determine if the IR sensor is reading? That's my least favorite addition to the MK3s, so far...
