Newly assembled Prusa and prints quality
I got a new MK3S+ kit that I assembled for the first time. And I started printing.
I printed a bunch of objects using attached Silver PLA:
- 3d benchy in 0.15mm (gcode from Pusa website) and 0.3mm DRAFT (sliced with PrusaSlicer)
- calibration cube in 0.2mm QUALITY (sliced with PrusaSlicer)
- voron cube in 0.2mm QUALITY (sliced with PrusaSlicer)
- vase in vase mode in 0.2mm QUALITY (20cm tall, sliced with PrusaSlicer)
And I see the following:
- pretty nice on some parts
- perfect first and last layer
- visible uneven or wavy layers
- hear this very strange noise (like whistle/whizz) coming from extruder motor (attached video: Extruder noise)
I think my question is: Is that normal (as quality goes) or expected or did I screw up something with assembly?
RE: Newly assembled Prusa and prints quality
I see nothing wrong with those prints. The printer is working quite well. The noise on the extruder - at least from the video - it also quite normal. The motors are steppers - they make a whining noise as they move the X and Y and Z axes. And the fans on the extruder also make noise; especially the print cooling fan on the front (radial fans are just noisy).
Congrats on a good build. Your prints are actually better than most from first timers.

I was wondering if I did something wrong. It is my first Prusa, but second printer overall (Ender being other one), so not completely new. It seems pretty nice 🙂
Thank you!

I'm actually impressed (jealous?) with the near lack of ringing artifacts. lol.

I have to agree with Tim. Those are near perfect for FDM.
